In January 1999, the BNR34 GT-R was launched at the Tokyo Auto Salon, a tuning and custom car festival that was already gaining worldwide recognition, just like its predecessor, the BCNR33. The system was inherited from the previous generation BNR32, but it had been thoroughly brushed up. The most notable feature of the BNR34 was its downsized body, with the overall length and wheelbase shortened by 75 mm and 55 mm, respectively, in reflection of the bloated BCNR33. In addition, body rigidity was improved, and for the V-spec grade, a large diffuser covered the backside of the body to improve aerodynamic performance and driving stability.
The BNR34 was initially available in three grades: a base model, a V-spec model with enhanced sportiness, and the N1, a race-based version, followed by the release of several limited edition models. Following a minor change in August 2000, the V-Spec evolved into the V-Spec II, the first mass-produced car to be equipped with a carbon fiber hood (with NACA ducts), and the M-Spec, which focused on ride comfort and other amenities, was also introduced. The BNR34 ended its history with a total of 1,000 units of the limited edition V Spec II Nurburgring and M Spec Nurburgring, which appeared in 2002.
The R35 model, which followed in the footsteps of the BNR34, was called simply "Nissan GT-R" without the name "Skyline," and its engine was a V6, breaking with the DOHC straight-six that had been a tradition since the first-generation GT-R. It is now prized as a collector's item all over the world as the last "Skyline GT-R.
Our BNR34 model cars are designed based on the 3D data of the actual car provided by Nissan Motor Co. However, in order to deliver the true appearance of the BNR34, we aim for objective modeling without deformation.
We have already released various BNR34s in 1/43 and 1/18 scale, but this time, based on the V-Spec II, which has a large diffuser on the back and front side of the body, and the first carbon fiber hood with NACA ducts on a production car, we have decided to use the mild lower and the light weight and high rigidity of the BNR34, which has been installed on a real car. BBS LM wheels, which are extremely common on the BNR-34 due to their light weight and rigidity, are combined to deliver a customized version of the car.
The body color is the standard Bayside Blue, Midnight Purple 3, which changes color depending on the angle of the light hitting it, and other popular colors are available in various factory colors. The wheels, the centerpiece of the new model, combine a white metal mesh (disc) part with a machined aluminum rim that is highly round and has a texture similar to that of the same part on the actual vehicle. The high resolution of the piercing bolt that joins the rim and disc is also a point of interest.
Our make-up was born in a room in "Central Apartment" in Harajuku, Tokyo in 1978.
